FREE License for under 16's! MSA have announced that with effect from 1st January 2008 all first licenses for those under 16's taking up karting are to be free of charge!!!!!
Here's a link to a document from IOMKRA website confirming just that! Finally an initiative from the MSA that seems to be in spirit with promoting Karting!

why no racing? and dont apply for a licence until after christmas - you have to renew it every year - unless your thinking of racing at the Celtic there is no point getting a licence now
mind you i know someone who is getting their licence just so they can come out of retirement and kick arse in the celtic
why cant you race anyway?
Nige- 11-24-2007
Took the smallest fee out of the loop, thankyou msa, doff, doff. :x
Dibbymac, stay off the blue smarties
K1-Dan- 11-25-2007
Do they not teach English in schools any more? Or they only do "Internet Coc'ney" these days?
Dibby... yes it does mean that if you graduate the academy this time round and you apply for a 2008 license you will get it for free. That is THE LICENSE is free, as Nige has hinted it is the smallest fee in the process but still...
I suspect they're also trying to take some flack out of the equation, I mean given that it is free you can't moan about not getting it until March-April like last year!!!?!!! Call me cynical!

Henry, have you ever tried driving and commentating at the same time? Or is that the ambition at the Celtic Champs?
Henry- 11-25-2007
If the technology were there and it was tested i would love to try - i dont think its ever been done before in an officially sanctioned event - one for the Guinness Book of Records??? - you'd need a very good wireless mic and an excellent transmitter due to the speed/distance and direction of the broadcast etc
not gonna happen at the Celtic cos i aint the one getting my licence
Old K D- 11-25-2007
You have not asked yet Dan, but it is not me either.
However, if I sign up for the Academy and pass my ARKS test. Will I get a free...... Wait a bit.... Under 16s. Another plan blown out of the water. I could never pass that obstacle.
What about free licenses for the over 60s?
Might be the rejuvenation of the SWKC.
Q Tip class, specially built Zimmer karts, engine cranes to get the drivers in and out. The grid would be cluttered with oxygen bottles, Paramedics and support crews.
There would probably have to be a guy with a red flag to walk in front of each kart just like in the good old days.
Sorry about all that I'm being ageist, not very PC in this day and age.
One last point for Dibbs.
I understand that tx mesges R al the rage thes days but som of us r 2 old 2 get wat U mean. Try the English language it might help you with your creative writing and KS3 tests.
Good Luck.
K1-Dan- 11-25-2007
Dibby...
I believe the 1st price in the academy is a free ARKS pack and 1 years membership at Llandow, so if you get polishing that chassis and you pay attention when you listen to Mark and Nigel's longhand speak in the academy you might save a bigger whole in your dad's budget!
The incentive is there!
Oh, and don't get offended by us having a go at your attempts at sounding cool, you see most of us here (as Old KD mentioned above) are old farts and don't dig all that speak, so you're wasting your talents!
Old K D- 11-25-2007
Just a thought.
If Henry could drive and commentate at the same time he would have to have rear view mirrors fitted.
I assume he would be in his kart of choice, the championship winning 7 KART.
Way out in front, he would be unable to follow the excitement and close action of the trailing group.
What about it Dan? Lend him your Wild Kart, that would put him in the middle so he could see what was going on. You think?
K1-Dan- 11-26-2007
Old K D... leaving aside the fact that my Wildkart is a winning chassis at Llandow (although granted not in my hands) I believe that the above statement is dissing Henry's winning prowess rather than taking the Mic out of my chassis!
Or are you saying that Henry can only win with a 7 Kart?
I think some humble pie ought to be consumed!
But, given that I believe you are a very good mechanic, I can offer you the chance to redeem yourself and make that Wildkart a winning chassis again, if you mechanic for me at the Welsh Champs! I'll provide the accommodation!
What do you say Henry, is that a fair deal?

Dibbymac- 11-27-2007
I cant race i dun think cos im still in race achademy, mind u, its my last race achademy session soon, like the 15th of december or summin,
cant talk much now cos im in an IT lesson at school, LOL!! Can i race then sooon? If i can then cool!! I cant wait 2 race the mini max's, cos i av the birel and i wnna see how fast it is compared, wether its faster or not. A birel 2005 costs £4500 normally, and i got mine for a cheap £1400!!!!!!
LOL!!!!! Talk 2 u guys later, ok??

Dear Dan,
I am indeed sussed, with pie from nose to chin.
My machanicing skills are limited, like the small wheels go at the front, right?
I fear that if I was let loose on that fine piece of Italian engineering you drive it would cease to be a moving object.
As to Henry's racing prowess he did seem to spend a lot of time in a Stratos then a 7 KART doing pretty well. I seem to remember, a couple of Welsh Champs ago he came second to Chris Lippscomb driving something with a real engine.
I will be at the Welsh Champs, as usual, cheering on all the drivers in all the classes. But I have to admit I do like the Prokarts, Junior and Senior.
If I don't get too embarassed I might introduce myself to you. I'm nervous already!
Old KD.
K1-Dan- 11-27-2007
Pick your moment carefully, knowing my luck you might get drawn into wielding a spanner or two!
And whilst we're on the subject of the Celtic Champs, does anyone know the format? Is it the same as a regular clubbie, or some special extra laps?
Dan
Dibbymac- 11-27-2007
:o Cmon old kd, not just introduce yrself, but u obviously kno that small wheels go at the front, u cant be that dull, even my cousine would know that and hes comin up to 2!! LOL!! If yr that dull, then plz,
 DONT INTRODUCE YRSELF!!!!!!
 Go on, if u aint dull introduce yrself!!
