Helmets? could anyone help me, im looking to get a decent helmet for around £200 but i can only find plain white helmets.
Does anyone know where to go to get helmets with a nice design on or am i pushing my luck for that sort of price range.
I found sites who do custom designs but obviously you supply the helmet

not many people actually sell type A helmates anymore! So no-one really knows where u can get them let alone where u can get a coloured 1!!!
just make sure that u get a "Type A" one and not the wrong type like i got first

my motorcycle helmet has a gold ACU Approved stamp on the back, does this qualify to be used in karting?
Or do i have to go and my another helmet?

That'll be no good for MSA racing! Perfectly fine for practising though!
You need a Type-A or Snell-2005 unfortunately, and they don't come cheap either!
But then how much does you head cost?
Keep an eye on the Internet and Ebay, occasionally things do pop-up at decent prices. Don't buy second hand!
Also, check the local motorbike shops, there are occasionally good deals around. The other day I came across a £200 Arai Type-A helmet in Port Talbot, and it wasn't white either. Only one and it was the wrong size for me, but just proves that patience can (and eventually will) pay dividents!

Vince, bring the helmet to the track and we can tell you if its usable or not. It might be type a, a/f anyway. Just because it has an ACU sticker on it doesnt mean its unusable Dan.

I found the shark S600 helmet: A, Very competitive price B, Nice decals C, Legal as my lad has raced with it at Llandow this year,....and as for Ebay, you should not buy secondhand but i DID get ours off there in very good condition for £16.00!! yes yes i know your thinking 'bike helmet', but it is a type A, and if you look at J&S accessories LTD , who have shops all over the uk, they are only £59.00 with £7.00 p/p at the mo! ....and check out the decals, Hope this is a help to all of thinking...Where the heck am i going to get a race legal helmet without spending a packet? Nige, we didn't come to the first academy as we thought we may not need to, but all being well, we will be there next week for the second session? cheers, Bri.

For those that wander what Ryan is talking about here's one link to FM Helmets website:
http://www.fmhelmets.co.uk/
Neither of them are suitable for MSA racing though!!!!
Can't find the Isle of Man's but maybe Ryan will give us a bit of his wisdom?
In English please Ryan this time?

Lewis Perrin has a helmet painting business going on - designs are much cheaper than most other outlets - speak to the Rodde's or Mark Taylor for more info as they have had theirs done with Lewis
