Help! Dangerously thick potential driver!
Hi all, I am fairly local to Llandow (Sully) and would love to get karting there. I will be signing up with the club soon if you'll have me, but haven't yet got a kart, hence this post! Initially I was looking to buy a Rotax 125 max kart and they do look fun, but then a post on this site said Prokart senior heavyweight may be a better way to go even though the karts are slower. Thing is I can find nothing out about this class. Also, a kart I nearly bought as a 2 year old machine turned out to be at least 10 years old when I asked the original supplier! So a couple of questions..... Could anyone volunteer to meet me at Llandow or have a chat on the phone and talk me through the best way to get into karting? Are there any suitable Prokart or Rotax max karts for sale locally, preferably retirement packages? Or am I doing this all wrong and should just get any old kart on Ebay for a grand and not race? My next birthday is my thirty-tenth, and I am about 13 stone of stocky build (but if my wife asks 12 stone 2) . Any suggestions much appreciated Cheers all, exciting times! Ed :)

If you can make it to the track on saturday then i'll show you around - i'll be the one walking round the paddock with a microphone annoying the drivers - also nigel kent in the burger van will be more than willing to have a chat. On sunday i'll be commentating but nige will still be there. Its Stars of Tomorrow so the place will be packed but dont let that put you off - just go into the office and whoever is in there will point you in the right direction. The racing is on sunday and should be pretty awesome

Sorry, I didn't read that till saturday evening! Sunday I have to prep our track car for a day at Castle Coombe but will try and come out just to touch base. Cheers Ed

No problems - i'll be jabbering away in the commentary tower but there will still be plenty of folks around who can help - just pop into the circuit office and the prokart advice will come flooding at you quicker than a rain storm in Toll Bar

It all depends on your budget ,we have a good grid of senior prokart heavyweight at Llandow, its a low cost class with like minded drivers like yourself being competative and looking for a bit of fun. There is a monthly prokart endurance you don't need a msa licience and is open to everybody with a prokart ,novice or expert .Then there is a sprint event every month but you have to have a MSA licence. There are karts for sale locally if I you need any further information give me a call on 07770 625371.
