Hi Vince and welcome to Llandow and Karting. What class is your kart? Don't ask about the age, some of us here a bit touchy about that subject! Dan

Vince- 08-17-2007

thankyou ita a senior tkm extreme i picked it up off a friend who use to be a member of llandow kart club and now has moved to cars

Hi Vince, im look at mabye racing next year at llandow too. We have a snr rotax max. I went down to watch the welsh championships today, it was the first meeting i have seen at Llandow, and it was brilliant, i just wish i was racing in it. I've practiced down there but have yet to race. How close are you to being ready to race? have you taken your ARKS yet? and all that kinda stuff? Emma (Also 20yrs)

Vince- 08-19-2007

well i want to get loads of practice in and start fresh when the new race season starts Nope havnt taken the ARKS yet

Vince & Emma, Don't forget the race academy starts again at the beginning of September, check Llandow's main site for dates. It's a good opportunity to pick-up some good racing knowledge from Nigel and Mark meisters! And you get to stay on and test afterwards! Dan

Dont forget though that there is no Senior TKM Extreme grid at the moment at Llandow - id get some good testing experience in on the TKM this year and then have a butchers at the Kartmania show in November or the Autosport Show in January for a Rotax kit - 14 Max's at the Welsh Champs last weekend - and that was without Llandow's resident apparel salesman Dan??????

Vince- 08-22-2007

so Basically there wont been a tkm extreme class with llandow next year?? Ah well i guess im just going to have to go with the flow i suppose and change to rotax max

Henry- 08-24-2007

At the moment, unless several more like minded individuals pitch up with TKM Extremes for next season it looks unlikely. That isnt to say it definitely wont happen tho - it just looks unlikely at this time. The club obviously won't deter any potential TKM entries and we did have 1 grid of 3 karts in February just before the Super 1 meeting. However those drivers weren't local and just wanted to come down and use a clubbie as a test session for S1. Cos they aren't local they havent been back...yet. Its a tough situation - you have a kart so you should use it to get to grips with the track and the speed. It'll also give you more of an idea as to what could/will go wrong when you start racing. The advantage of having the TKM now is that if something does go amiss with the motor you can do it yourself. Without wanting to push you in either direction you have to ask yourself a) do i want to try and establish a class myself and run the risk of not racing every month or b) bite the bullet, move classes and at least have some competition every month. But it does make sense to use the TKM now as a starter kart for the rest of the year to help get you up to speed and prepared for MSA racing

Vince- 08-24-2007

I was actually looking at getting a rotax max kart way before i bought my tkm, but the kart that i have now was a bargain and the fact that i could do all the engine work myself help make my mind up in buying. But for now i will use this for practicing and i will enjoy it while i still can. I just like to say GUYS and Girls you have been Very friendly and helpful and i hope to meet/see you all at llandow when i pop down for a practice Thanks

K1-Dan- 08-28-2007

You'll see me at the next academy if you're coming (unless I'm working that weekend that is). Henry, sorry for my (and my apparel) absence from the Welsh, unfortunately new job and other commitments meant funds were thin and time even thinner! Glad to hear there was a good grid on the Max. I heard it was thin elsewhere!

Henry- 08-28-2007

Yep - Max was biggest grid - its true that entries were a little thin elsewhere - a shame but the racing was still of the highest quality

I hope to go down one saturday soon to join in a open practice, to see if im good enough for the Arks test. I ordered a start karting pack from the msa, but got a phone call the next day saying i didnt need to get another one as i can use the one i got back in 2005 (when i coundnt afford to race) so that saved me £40! :D Only to then get told i need a transponder.....(£140 brand new) I know you can borrow the ones at llandow but im worried if i get there and they are all gone! When the lady form msa phoned me i asked her what i need to know for my arks test, she said it would say on the video. I know i need to learn all the flags and that you cant get any of those wrong, but she said i need to know all of section E in the blue book. BUT in the pack it gives a few sections i need to learn! and now im just confused :?: can anyone help please?

K1-Dan- 08-31-2007

You won't need a transponder for the ARKS, usually the Alfarno/Mychron on the dash as well as Nige's stop watch will get you through. I didn't have one then and borrowed one for my first two races whilst I was watching Ebay for one. Eventually got one for less than £100 and almost 2 years later still using it! £Fiver would secure it for the weekend if I'm not racing. There are essential things which you cannot get away from buying but a lot of stuff can be postponed until you "must" or can afford it! Asking here is a good thing.

Vince- 08-31-2007

hey emma, im hoping to go down to llandow a week saturday to get some practice in, so if you can make it down there, it'll be good to see you down there my kart will hopefully be sorted by then as im going to use some of this weekend and the week to get it done. Does anyone know how long it takes to get a club membership returned to you as i sent my off just over a week ago, i might be asking to soon but normally a membership dont take too long i didnt think.
