Kart For Beginer
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and a new to karting also. I was wondering if any of you could give me some valuable advice on what kart to buy, i'm 25 and weigh about 70kg also i was wondering if possible you could tell me where the best place would be, to look for a 2nd hand kart. thanks all Gavin

Gavin, Welcome to Llandow and Karting in general. Have a look through the other threads over here, the question was asked relatively recently and good answers were given by Henry and others. Best starting point would be to attend a race meeting. Us karters are a friendly lot, well OK some friendlier than others, and we do answer questions freely to anyone that's interested to join our hobby. Next meeting at Llandow is on 3rd weekend of the month! Another good source of info about karting in general and class specific is UK-Karting website www.karting.co.uk which has a very well attended notice/message board. Once again, do a search or just read through the posts and you'll soon get a very good picture of the entire karting scene in Britain, from Club racing to the highest level. And keep asking the questions! Dan

Dan, Thanks for the quick reply, I was looking at the pro-kart series it seems affordable and has a good few numbers at llandow. Eventualy after a year or two i would like to progress and try some of the bigger series in the england area depending on how well i do to begin with of course, i have quite a good mechanical background as I am a mechanic but would be more than gratefull of any help you would be able to give. Thanks again and I will see you on the 20th of october to pick your brains so to speak. Gavin

Picking brains???....
You won't be picking my brains on the 20th! Partly because there isn't much to pick in the first place... and more importantly because the only thing I know about Prokart is how to put them in the tyres! As some here will witness! I'm slightly (only slightly) more successful with the 2T engines! I'm told that they mask the mistakes better! I'll take any compliment I can at my age (and ability)! Was that a compliment? :? More seriously though, you can get a lot of advice from Henry and his motly crew, as well as Gwyn Latcham who also posts here and has a shop in the Bridgend area. There's also a Prokart Challenge endurance race tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at Llandow, it's being organised by Gwyn and non-MSA so everyone with a Prokart (or a mate mad enough to lend him a drive) can attend and race. Come along, there'll be plenty of time to talk with people in the know! Dan

I'm gutted i'm in work tonight until ten, so i suppose i will have to wait excitedly for 3rd sunday of this month. Gavin.

Have the endurance team got theyre own website up and running.

K1-Dan- 10-04-2007

Not sure there ever was an attempt at a website for the endurance series. It is a new addition to the callendar, although now 4-5 months running and the child of Gwyn's imagination! Perhaps best talk to him about that one. I couldn't make it last night so not sure if the RNLI was out in attendance again!

Hello? Did someone call ??? we've got a title winning Stratos Clubman for sale with engines at the moment - at the end of the year we'll also have a 7Kart with engines for sale although that will be more expensive in 2008 we'll be hiring out 1 Stratos Clubman for Gwyn's endurances although we're going to wait until after christmas before we go down that route we've also got space for 1 driver in the MSA Sprint Series next year - would prefer to start with a novice - test over the winter and start afresh next Feb/March if anyone is interested give me a PM for financial details
