Well done to everybody who turned up for the first Prokart Challenge wednesday evening 6/06/007. It was a perfect evening with beautiful weather and excellent racing ,a good grid of 19 teams participated 9 PRO Class and 10 Clubman .Considering that there where drivers in the clubman class competing in their first event the standard of driving was very high, with no reported incidents. After just over two and a half hours Rob Williams waved the chequed flag as I passed the finish line 1 lap 5 seconds infront of Henry OSB 1 and Len Team Hare & Tortoise just 1 lap 42seconds behind. I would like to thank my teammate Mark Taylor ,Cam in OSB 1 and Hugh Jones team Hare & Tortoise thats the fastest tortoise i've ever seen ,and all the other drivers, mechanics ,and marshals and helpers that made the evening such a success. The next Prokart Challenge is on Wednesday 11/07/2007 entrys are filling up fast with new teams already entered ,so just give me a call to confirm your entry for the July event. Was a good evening and a great atmosphere - hopefully it will grow to a regular 25-30 teams over the summer. Also like the way that the clubman winners get a prize that will help them if they start racing regularly (eg a kart trolley - possibly an ARKS pack down the line or maybe free club membership etc etc?)). Hopefully some of the non MSA drivers that raced will be inspired to get their licences and race sprints altho i think the club now needs to look at making a sprint meeting as attractive as your endurances because wednesday night was certainly better value for money than a club meeting. For example I spent 35 quid and got more than 80 racing laps for my money - you get 32 laps at a sprint meeting and the entry fee is 40 quid alone. Was also good to have Rob Williams back as clerk - i think the fact that he took a serious tone really and was very visible on track helped with driving standards. Having Margaret in lap scoring and a timing monitor next to the paddock was a good thing too. I'm not sure about starting the race when the grid gate opens though and counting the rolling lap as lap one of the race  I know the you were pushed for time but maybe a 5-10 minute break between practice and the start would be good next time. I didnt mind having the hire karts out with us as I knew that all the drivers were experienced, good racers (maybe with the exception of Dan K1    ) but i think it would put some people off if the track started hiring them out for regular punters - i've seen plenty of corporate drivers at llandow and most of them are shi-ite You can definitely put Cam and me down for the next one as kart 28 OSB 1 :) chris, dave, luke, mikey, craig llewellyn and tom have all said they want to do it too so the chances are we'll have more than 2 teams out We've also got a Jade for sale at £600 all suited and booted and ready to hit the track for the next race

Glad you all enjoyed the meeting it was a huge success , the more people we can get into karting can only be for the good of the sport. Unfortunatly due to the high initial cost to race in MSA events it does put of all but the determined racer . There are however karters out there with their own karts that for their own reasons only wish to race when they can , thus the msa option is to exspensive . This series is for these people to enable them to compete at a low cost in a budget class against other drivers on a level playing field . As you say I think we achieved the true freindly atmosphere of karting that evening . There was an error at the beginning the race, the race starts at the start line. With reference to coperate karts as you say they were driven by experienced drivers with the exception of one , I would not accept an entry from a total novice or team , but without the use of these coperate karts these experienced drivers could not participate . I Hope the grids will increase there are new teams already entered and there is a lot of interest ,the entry will be caped at 30 teams , depending on how the event runs it may be increased . I have entered OSB1 for next months meeting on the 11/7/07 and look forward to another exciting meeting.

Oy, you two! We'll have none of that OK? Proper employment of the equipment was had! Have you seen the length of the grass at Chandlers...? I rest my case! Not to mention the gentle "hint" from behind that I should be going faster? :x I thought that stuff only happens in Rotax and that you Prokart-ers are gentlemen? :? My thanks to Mum (Jaqui) for the partnership and such an inspired team name! As well as to Ken for letting us use the equipment. I think that's the appropriate word! I'm still aching, and it's not the ribs this time! In all fairness, I thought that the Truck racing was this weekend at Pembrey! They must have moved the practice to Wednesday at Llandow for some reason! Leaving that aside, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening racing, even if the equipment was a bit "heavy". I shall be making an appearance (shhhhh!!!) next month (if I have any ribs left from the jump at Lydd) and maybe in the Pro-class if Jeremy gets his shift right and his act together. Maybe that way I won't be 15kg over the weight limit and all of it over the rear axle! Mind you, crap and inexperienced as I was, we did finish ahead of some teams with their own equipment!

Us mere low life prokart drivers very rare have the opportunity to race against you "Top level max drivers" so when you entered the Prokart challenge we were expecting to be out classed , Obviously I am not alone ,in noting that your efforts were a bit disappointing  Joking aside I'm glad you enjoyed your venture into prokart endurance and hope it be the first of many, welcome to the dark side. :)

May i just say a big thank you to Gwyn for his great organising skills for this event and for future events. Also a big thank you to KKC and ZOOM KARTS for their sponsorship of prizes for this event. I would also like to say a big thank you to Steve the driver Everett, who came down to support the race and ended up driver for about 45 to 50 minutes, fantastic and well done mate. Also a big thanks to team driver Steve Windows, we had a great time for our 1st ever proper race. When Steve and myself had finished the 3 laps endurance, we went up to Gwyn and said where did we finish and he said that was the warm up and we had another 21/2hrs to go, never mind, we did enjoy it and hopefully be ready for the next 1. For all of you that are going to enter please make sure that you get your entries in early to avoid disapointment, as there will be a maximum of 30 karts on the grid. What we dont want to happen is for teams from away to get involved in the endurance before the regulars do, so please book your place early with Gwyn. Well done to all who took part and good luck for the next round.
