Prokart Tyres Looks like there could be a bit of bother changing over to Bridgestones thanks to issues with the ABKC. Watch this space for more news soon.

Seems to me the matter should be simple.
LKC can amend their SRs to include Bridgestones for use on the Prokarts.
I understand that the ABKC recommend the use of Dunlops. Is this a recommendation or an instruction?
If an instruction, how can such an instruction be placed on an independantly constituted club?
What are the Supplementary Regulations for?
The way I see it the SRs are exactly that. Supplementary to the Standard Regulations pertaining to Kart racing and to outline particular regulations applicable to individual clubs.
If Dunlops are insisted upon it sounds like a form of blackmail. Can the Association of British Kart Clubs impose sanctions for the use of Bridgestones?
Wrist smacking, endorsements of underpants, withdrawal of membership?
I have heard that the ABKC has a 'contract' to promote Dunlops. I don't think this is Legal. Sounds like a monopoly. If true then it is discriminatory, restricts choice and is clearly unfair to other tyre manufactors, distributors and most unfair to the average karter who is kicked up the backside every which way by increasing costs.
I am given to understand that the Bridgestone tyre is far more cost effective than the Dunlop for Endro racing and therefore would be best suited for the Prokarts. We all know that Prokarts are low on the totem pole when it comes to karting.
Cheaper to run, not as fast as the flash karts. In fact the poor relations.
BUT, the Prokart is often the only means by which many racers can afford to get onto the track.
If anyone out there, including the ABKC, has any enthusiasm about supporting and encouraging the sport of Karting they should allow the use of tyres which are best suited to do the job.

Has anything been decided yet as to weather or not the tyre change over will happen...?
Also many clubs are not using the new bodywork ruling this year, just wanted to check if our club was doing this too or are they sticking to the new regs...?
Thanks
