Promoting the Club.
Some of you may have noticed last week that I attempted to promote the Race Meet on the UK-Karting website and in connection with Big Col and Harde we offered no late entry penalty to anyone entering the event after the deadline. My attmepts didn't work because someone has reported my post as advertising and it was pulled. I did re-attempt later with better results (didn't get pulled) but it was too late in terms of entries. What I want to say here is that I've noticed there are a lot of LKC and SWKC people posting on the UK-Karting NoticeBoard and maybe even more watching it. I can't do a lot on my own, we need people to help raise awareness of the Club, Track and the events. Hooton Park only opened last month and has almost monopolised the entire noticeboard! I know at times it feels like there's almost an anti-Llandow (or anti-S-West karting as Dunkeswell are suffering similar fates), but there's no substitute for sticking your head up and posting. You ARE helping the Club and Track to stay in people's minds and maybe, just maybe, people will forget that they have to pay bridge tolls and extra on fuel to get here! Come-on guys, if you have ideas and a bit of time put them forward, this website looks like a deserted place, we're still advertising the Winter Series 1 month after the last race was run and last post over here is from 20/March, the one before is from February! True reflection on the numbers racing at the weekends I'd say! I know a lot of you call me big mouth and other similar things, but keeping shtum like you've done so far doesn't help as you've noticed. I've started a campaign to promote the track by posting as often as I can both here and on UK-Karting, please support it, if you don't like what I'm doing then post or e-mail me directly, but whatever you do don't just sleep! That's why the forum was put here for! Dan

I agree with everything you are saying ,and it's great that someone is trying to sort it all out,but you must agree also that the person or person,s responsible for putting up the points from the club meetings is a little on the slow side, most other clubs have already updated there championship points from the March meeting, don,t you think that may put a few people off from visiting the site.Well done for trying Dan! Oh by the way ,I personally travel for 2 hrs 15 mins to get to llandow even though there are tracks closer to my home,so at least I am doing something even though it is small.

You must really like the track
Wow, 2.5 hrs travel, you must really be liking the Llandow track! My respects to you, others much closer moan at the prospect of having to pay £5 or £10 bridge toll to come into Wales! Well done! And nice to know someone does! What do you race, or are you just an owner driver? Dan

Hi Guys - have spoken to Chris about points on the site but his hands are tied. He cant put them on the site unless he's given them - if someone emailed Margaret she will send them to chris for him to update but she can't guarantee that they'll be done straight after the race meeting - usually they only get done the saturday before the following meeting. The news section of the site needs more updating (and NO i'm not volunteering) if anyone has any news then send it to chris and he will update - as for the lap records - if someone came to me with the FULL results from the following events i would be happy to go through them all to get the new lap records I would need Llandow August Internations Llandow September Llandow October Llandow November Celtic Championships Motors TV Super 1 I would need ALL results as these are official records so we cannot afford to miss one meeting out. I have the 2007 results so wouldn't need them. To do the lap records (only since the resurfacing was done and the Kink removed) would take several hours so I wouldn't charge the club too much!!!!!!!!!

PS: Dan - I know u have a big mouth :D but i have a bigger one  and a louder one 8) (on racedays at least) although it would help if people didn't cut the wires to the tannoys in the paddock

Re: You must really like the track
I don't actually race,my son does and he really likes the track,so if it's good enough for him,i am prepared to use my time getting him there to do what he so obviously enjoys, besides that it gets me out for one week-end a month. He is in jtkm by the way (Matthew Beattie )and we drive all the way from Kidderminster Via Worcester,M5 - M50 - M4. what a drag, but worth it.

Loudmouth!
Henry, as you mentioned the voice was loud enough to hear you every bit as clear without the speaker in the covered pits being on! We only switched it off by the button provided!  Don't know anything about wires cut. Your commentary at the weekend was excellent, I thought Big Col might give you a trofy for the performance! It was nice to be able to "watch" the racing with one's ears, that's how good it was! As for the website, Chris is a bright young guy, with initiative, I'm sure that he can work at it, we could start by taking off the things that aren't relevant any more, what would you think about any retailer's website if you visited and they were still advertising Christmas and offering discounted trees? I'm not just being critical for critique's sake, I happen to live on the Net and therefore see this side of things, and there's more and more people like myself who judge companies, clubs, individuals by their web presence. My biggest bugbear is that we don't hear anything from the Club, there's been one AGM and maybe 2-3 committee meetings since and no one knows what is being discussed, decided etc. People leave clubs because of a variety of reasons, principal being that they feel alienated and disconnected, we do pay an annual membership, what is that for? I haven't had a card, a newsletter, AGM results? Short of £5 discount for racing what is the membership for? And please don't jump in my throat for making my views public, I want to help and sometimes pointing out the problems is a good place start! I did mention on this board that there's no way of getting back from this board to the LKC website, unless one hits the Back button repeatedly. That can be fixed as well! And why does "someone" need to e-mail Margaret for her to send the results to Chris, he's in charge of the website, which implies e-mail access as well... get my point? Come on Chris, get out of the Pram and back into that ICC boy, you can do it son! The race results always fly around the room after the end of racing, Margaret prints multiple sheets of them after every race, all someone needs to do is ether collect them from Sheila or ask Margaret for an extra copy for the Website, I'm sure she'll oblige, and Henry can pick them up at the end on the way past Margaret! There: SOLUTION! I'll be more than happy to help compile them as well. BibMouth signing off! See you all at the track!

Re: Loudmouth!
Chris, just spotted another broken link for you! The link to the noticeboard at the top of the main page takes you to the old noticeboard, now defunct and not working. Dan

Basically, when I used to do the newsletter I would email Margaret and generally nag her until she sent me an excel copy of the points - i'd then take the top 3 for each class for the newsletter. All Margaret would need to do is to email the lkc editor with the points as/when she's done them - i would imagine that putting an excel attachment to points page would be easy and would minimise time/effort for chris i have full results from jan/feb/march meetings on paper - but its a lot of scanning to put them on-site - is there any way they can be transferred from club laptop and the supersport system onto the site? - but as the club laptop and all results etc are in margaret's possession in between meetings this is putting a bit of pressure on her - again something we could work our way round perhaps good idea for marketplace - is also a way of getting a list of useful contacts on line for particular classes so newbies could have a browse and see if there may be anyone in club who could help them (eg Ken for Jade/ TKM 4/ - Delta, Barri Bevan, Gwyn (MS), me (7Kart) - oh and maybe a certain race apparael retailer???? hardy has a large selection of digital pics from jan/feb have spoken to richard re race results from '06 - as soon as i've got them i'll put together the 'official' lap records could the inner covers of the programme be used for more club messages?? - things like that have to be agreed quite a way beforehand as big col has printing restrictions - what kind of info do u think would be helpful to members? sadly the newsletter 'Last Lap' won't be returning - if i win the lottery and give up work i'll produce all sorts for every race meeting but it took hours and hours to put together and used a HUGE amount of ink- i have templates and back issues on disc if anyone did want to carry on the legacy.......... Dan - i just looked - we've had 20 different drivers in senior max so far in 2007 - lets try to get them all together for the welsh champs - what a weekend that would be

Re: Welsh weekend.
Excellent idea Henry, one that ties-in with something that Paul Wenham from Dunkeswell has proposed a few days ago: an Inter-Club race. And the month of August would be an ideal occasion for it as it houses both the Welsh Champs and the South-West Champs a weekend later. If we start early we can organise something that would benefit both clubs. The most difficult bit is the fact that they are Blue heavy and we are Prokart heavy. But there's no reason Cadets and Rotax classes cannot be included. I'm quite prepared to sponsor with prises part of the challenge if someone else comes along. What do you think?
