Hi all, I have a question for those knowledgeable Llandow racers,mechanics or even scrutineers. Can the rear bumper be welded to repair a break in the top section of the bumper tubing. :cry: Nick

Can the rear bumper be welded to repair a break in the top section of the bumper tubing. :cry: Nick Hi Nick, i've just had a quick look through the blue book ,concerning rear bumpers,it say's "upper tube and extension loop's must be made of a singlepiece of tubing" think you may need to take more advice on this before rushing out to buy a new one,maybe the M.S.A. could give you the advice you are looking for. :? :?

Thanks for that Al, From your info, technically you cannot repair the rear bumper as it then does not become a continuous piece of the original material. I suppose it then comes down too scrutineering interpretation, if they deem the weld part or not part of the tubing and is then not a single piece. Looks like i will have to fork out for a new or second hand bumper!!! Not worth taking the risk. Nick

sorry i can't be of any more help Nick ,as you know i only have one spare bumper myself and it would be just my luck to need it if i sold it to you. Take a look on the uk karting website ,you could find a good one on there. :) :)
