whats the best kart for a 12 year old to start with
Hi could anyone recommend what class and kart to start my son in. he is soon to be 12 years old, i don't live far from llandow so should be able to practice and later race there. also any help with regards to the cost and maintenance would also be of help. thanks paul.

If he is 12 next year he will be classed as a Junior and at Llandow the following classes are run: Junior Prokart (also known as Junior Honda) Junior TKM 2 Stroke Junior TKM 4 Stroke Mini Max Junior Rotax Prokarts are the cheapest and easiest to maintain although to buy a second hand chassis and engines may cost a little more than buying a second hand TKM - they are also the slowest not sure if he is old enough to race junior max (i think you've got to be 13 to do that) of the rest of the classes Mini Max is the fastest - and probably the most expensive how confident are you as a mechanic?

thanks for your help, i think i am going to go for a Honda pro kart, as i am on a budget these seem to be the best option to start of with. i am also keen to have a go my self which brings me to the next question , how quick and what is involved in converting from junior to senior if both race classes are on the same day. i know we both have to pass our race test first which want be for a good few months yet. i hope to come wed to the endurance race so if you see someone walking around the paddock asking loads of questions that's prob me.
